The WA Government has fast-tracked $140 million on transport, road and maritime projects. With 24 major infrastructure projects brought-forward, the government investment is projected to create over 1,000 jobs for the state. The decision was made in order to protect Western Australian jobs and support local businesses during the COVID-19 recovery.
WA Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti, stated, “we understand the devastating impacts COVID-19 has had on the industry and are committed to working together to support local businesses and support local jobs.”
The McGowan Government created a State-wide Construction Panel Contract aimed at minimising the cost of tendering for companies.
Minister Saffioti further highlighted that “this new panel will fast track major road and maritime infrastructure projects, worth up to $20 million, to support small and mid-tier businesses and save local jobs.”
WA Projects
- Bunbury Outer Ring Road – (budget $852 million) – 4,500 jobs
- Leach Highway Welshpool Road Interchange – (budget $93 million) – 600 jobs
- Stephenson Avenue (Stirling) – (budget $125 million) – 800 jobs
- Fremantle Traffic Bridge – (budget $230 million) – 1,400 jobs
- Roe Highway/Great Eastern Highway/Abernethy Road – (budget $180 million) – 1,200 jobs
- Albany Ring Road (budget $175 million) – 1,000 jobs
